Powertank Alternative

Has anyone seen this before:

http://onboardair.com/port_tanks.htm

They're pretty affordable. The entire kit minus the bracket is $200+shipping. Powertank is over $300 for the same size kit. Another forum member made his own homemade kit and spent as much as this one. I might be ordering one soon...

Never heard of them, but thanks for sharing! It does look like a nice setup.

That has no regulator for running air tools. Tires would be the only option as is.

You can get a PT from Mike at shockingly good prices with excellent service.

I think PT has a version of that which they are calling the Power Shot or some such thing. Not sure on the price, but I bet it is close.

The Powershot is $289 on their website. It has a 150psi pressure regulator. Is that not adequate for air tools? I dunno, I don't have much experience with that. The Outback tank alone (no hose or pressure reducer) is $125.

There doesn't appear to be an official order line, but on their Contact page, it lists the credit cards they accept and their contact info. I imagine you can call them and place an order over the phone.

MTNBKR,
150 psi is too high for air tools. The tools are to take no more than 90 psi really. You can use a little more, like 100 psi. Some tools specifically state this on them as they can burst, or the excess pressure wears out the tools pretty quick. That is why I have a Powertank. If you want a cheaper one, I suggest getting a cheaper tank, but getting a Powertank regulator.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if the 90 psi rating was a max or the minimum for a particular tool. Either way, I'm more interested in the ability to air up tires quickly, not running tools.

Have you used the Outback system yet? How is it? How does it compare to Powershot?
