Power locks lock/unlock themselves

My 94 SR5 door locks do wierd things every so often. When getting in/out of the car the locks jump down then up. It may do this at other times it is just this is the only time I here it. It is like the door is locking then ulocking very quickly. The knobs don't even go all the way down when it happens. Just to let you know I generally leave a key in the ignition most of the time (rural area). I think it may do this while the car is just sitting; here is why. After coming back from a 2 week vacation the brand new battery was completely dead. There is no alarm on this car either. Has anyone ever had this happen? Thanks for the help.

It does that when you leave the key in the ignition to keep you from accidentally locking your keys in the car.

Yes, mine does that too when I try to lock the door manually when the door is open and the key is in the "ON" position. but what i think Highland Runner is saying is that whenever the door opens, the lock automaticly locks and unlocks itself without any user intervention.

am i correct on this?

LT33T35T,
Yes, I think it does it when the door is only open and not closed. I here a fast click, click when I'm not touching anything. It seems completely random, but it could be the car saying you left your keys in the car. It is the same sound/action when you try to manually lock the door with the key in the ignition.

Mine does it too, but not all the time and not at a consistent interval, so I know it's not some automated thing. All I can think is some connection is corroded or loose or getting static electricity or something.

interesting

if it's any consolation - it might be a bad door lock actuator. My 94 Integra (RIP) had this malady - it was very intermittent - but it supposedly would fail eventually. It was different than the "anti-lock out protection" b/c it would happen when I was actually in the car and all doors were closed. I would go to lock the dorrs and they would lock then unlock quickly. There was actually a service bulletin on it...

so yeah - it might something electronic and not your imagination.

Just my $.02
