Power Antenna - Stuck Up and No Motor Sound and other Antenna Questions

I've searched the forum for the last two days and I haven't found the symptom I'm seeing.

Q1 - My power antenna on my 2001 Ltd is stuck in the up position. When I turn the car off or when I change from FM to CD, I hear nothing from the power antenna motor. The Chilton's manual says that often the relay fails before the motor. I'd like to check the relay, but I don't know where to find it. Where is the power antenna relay located?

Q2 - The Chilton's manual also says that in order to extend the antenna fully, press a couple of buttons simultaneously have a "helper" guide the antenna out. My problem is I've replaced my stock radio with an aftermarket one. Do I need to get my stock out of storage in order to change the antenna mast?

Q3 - The stock radio has 2 antenna connections (1 fat and 1 thin) and there are 2 antenna wires. My aftermarket stereo has one connection. Only one of the antenna connections fit (the fat one). I have had to tuck the thin antenna wire back into the dash. What is the purpose of this wire? Is there a way to add this thin antenna wire into the mix?

FYI...I don't want a fixed mast solution. I'm looking to get my power antenna fixed.

Thanks in advance.

That plastic chain type thing broke. Mine did the same, I hate power antennas. Anyway, there is a section here to do the Tacoma whip swap otherwise you`ll have to replace your antenna assy.

If the antenna motor was running but there was no movement, then I'd agree that a new mast was needed, but the motor isn't running according to the post.

I don't know where the relay is offhand, but maybe someone else will. You don't need your stock stereo to change the antenna mast, if in fact that's what you need to do. Just do a search on here, there's lots of posts on how to change it.

Tear that thing out and do the fixed mast antenna mod.. If you fix it now you'll buying another one eventually and then another....... I know guys that went through 3 of them. There's a write up and parts numbers in the tech section cost about $30 or so if that.
