I have an '02 4Runner (auto) that I installed a Fabtech coilover suspension system with new '99 Runner springs in the rear. So I have approx ~3-3.5" lift over stock. (The lowrider) Since the lift I noticed that if felt as if there were a slight drag. The truck shifted more often up hills. So I assumed that either the e-brake was slightly engaged or due to the angles the front axles were now under, there was now some binding. I also installed a Fabtech 1" front diff drop. Not sure if it helped much, but it gave me piece of mind.

So I bit the bullet and purchased a set of non ABS manual hub steering knuckles out of a junk yard. My intent was to have everything pressed out and pressed back into my ABS knuckels with new bearings, seals, axles etc.... So I had this work done locally at a shop called J&M Offroad. The did excellent work and were quick. I would definetly recommend them to anyone.

Since the conversion, the truck will stay in OD going up hills on the freeway (seems to have more power and the "drag" feeling is gone) and steering effort is greatly reduced. I'm on my first tank of gas since the conversion so I'm not sure if I'll see any real world difference in MPG (maybe 1 or 2). But I do have piece of mind now that my ADD CV joints won't grenade on me due to the angles and constant rotation.

Thinking about doing this myself. Although, I want to do it for better fuel economy. Let us know how it affects your economy.

With the cost of its, the benifits for mpg aren't going to be worth it. Especially if your wanting to keep abs.

I want to put manual hubs on my 92. I like the ADD but I feel more secure and in control with manuals. I am wondering if I have to get the spindle conversion kit or does the add need no kit?...just a straight swap
