possibly changing gears
I've had my 96 4Runner for 10 years now and it has served me well. As some of you are aware, it has indeed seen better days. Chances are good that it will be retired sometime this summer. My wife is working at the local Toyota dealership, and they this 04 Tacoma double cab with the rear locker. A lot of what I've learned modding my 4runner would carry over to the tacoma if I buy it. But are there any major differences between the 4Runners and the Tacomas? Seems like the rear suspension is the only major difference.
Ok, now to the point. If I were to get the Taco, I'm not sure if I'd wheel it... at least not any time soon. But since I can't NOT think about wheeling it, I'm already putting together a list of mods. Any one know if the TJM from my 96 will swap over to this 04?
How much lift would I need to run 35s?
What tires do you recommend?
What about aux lights? Hella, PIAA, IPF, or Lightforce?
Lol... ok, now I'm just being rediculous... but the first part was serious.

you did the right thing. I know its sad. But you'll love the taco. If its any help...You'll need a 6 inch lift to run 35's according to factory specs, but you could squeeze them on a little smaller lift, I think. A lot of people seem to run the mickeys. But my buddy swears by his BF goodrich's. On the taco's, I mostly see 11 and a half or 12 wide tires. I've got an 04 double cab Im about to lift. Good Luck Man!! Keep me posted!!
