Popping sound around front passenger side wheel

When I turn hard or hit a bump at speed there is a popping sound that comes from my passenger front tire area. I've looked and don't see anything loose or out of place. The pop only happens once, like something is settling into position or something like that.

What could be making this sound?

There is supposed to be little plastic caps over some bolts on the bottom near the frame near the control arms, they fell off. Sorry i don't know what the area is called but Look at the other side to see what im talking about! Go buy some new ones from toyota if it bugs you. but they break easy!

It could be a number of things. I would just go ahead and tighten the three top nuts on the strut, the bottom bolt on the shock, and the sway bar endlinks.

If there still is a sound, you may want to check to see if your ball joints are ok.

Most likely its something to do with your shock/spring. Have you done any suspension modifications?

Possibly sway bar buishings,and/or endlink buishings.Especially if you are getting noise while going strait and while turning with bumps/dips....If the sway bar buishings and endlinks are ok,and you are hearing noise while turning and hitting bumps like say a drainage curb where the road meets a driveway in a subdivision I would start thinking balljoints....This is all assuming everything is tight in front end from any modifications.

No suspension mods...but I've hit some nasty bumps at speed while off-road.

I'm betting on broken endlinks. Those things have the strength of a popsicle stick.

Endlinks are good....just went out and checked them. I guess I'll tighten everything down tomorrow and see what happens.

How much are ball joints going for?? I think something like 60 bucks? And can I install it by myself? Seems like if I jack the suspension up I could do it.....this is if the other remedies don't work out mind you.

Thanks for the help! This forum has saved me some major cash on repairs at the stealership!!

Thanks again!

So I just tried to tighten everything and there was nothing loose. The endlink on both sides of my truck moves around, side to side, when I try to tighten the bolts on them....I don't know if this is what they are supposed to do or not?

What else could it be? Ball joints?

Thanks!
