Pictures of my 4runner progress
Bought a 2000 4Runner Ltd 2 weeks ago
Then I yanked the running boards
I gave it a 3" lift thanks to the Toytec/OME suspension, and the 1" diff drop.
Then I slapped on some 305/70/16 Firestone Destination A/T's on some LC rims
Got myself a nice little mall crawler.
Next in line:
Skid plates
Sliders
bumpers/lights
Then I yanked the running boards

Most of the cars that I've built have been road race cars, where black rims are very popular (much easier to keep clean with all the brake dust). I guess the style just stuck with me through to this project.

The wheel manufacturers have to be pissed about the black wheel trend. Now you can spend $45 on painted steelies and it looks just as good as aluminum or chrome.

Ok, so your truck is pretty damn close to what I want my 4Runner to look like next spring so I have a few questions.
1. Are you running the toytec OME 3" lift kit that replaces all 4 springs for 359.00???
2. In the first pic with the old tires, are they 265/70 or 265/75
3. How much rubbing are you getting with those 305/70s? I know alot of people complain about the rubbing with 285's ....is it because you have LC wheels?

2. I don't remember. 265/70, I think. they're in the garage, but I'm too lazy to go look.
3. The stock rims have somewhere between 4.75 and 5" of backspacing. No one on this forum seems to know for sure. If you search, you'll find a dozen different numbers. The LC rims have 4.5" of backspacing, good for either 285's or 305's. If you don't want 305's to rub at all you have to either a.) shave the driver side upper control arm, b.) get a rim with either 4" or 4.25" of backspacing, pushing the rim out farther from the hub, or c.) get spacers. I don't trust spacers, and the LC rims are inexpensive, so I went that route. The tire only rubs on the driver UCA at full articulation. It is otherwise not an issue. I did have to cut out a bit of the fender flare at the very front corner to keep from rubbing during turns. More than 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock rubbed the tire on the bumper. Its not a big deal to shave that off with a dremmel. Just make sure you measure twice, cut once, and it'll be just fine...unlike me, I just eyeballed it, and I f'd up the driver side fender flare a little...oops. You can't tell unless you're looking for it, though.

The black LC's look sick! Although I think they would look better wrapped in some mud terrains. But, thats just my .02 Do you plan on mounting the lights to your stock bumper?

Nah. Hopefully I'll either buy an ARB or mount them to a roof rack. I'm on the fence with the idea of a roof rack though, since that would eliminate any chance of parking in my garage again.
