photo of bottle jack needed...

Odd I know, but I would really appreciate someone either posting a pic of or sending me a pic via PM or email of the bottle jack in your 1988 4runner.

It MUST be from a 1988 4Runner, and if it's never been removed from it's original location that's even better...

Long story so I'll condense it...

As you may or may no know, my gf's 4Runner was stolen in mid June.

I'm still working on getting it back to normal after incompetent work being done (and offered and refused) by the insurance company).

The bottle Jack was stolen out of the 4Runner and Toyota wanted $175 for replacement.

I ordered one from Yotayard and I'm not convinced it's correct. It doesn't seem to fit right. It's rusty and nasty too, but that's beside the point. I figure my concerns over the latter are due to my being a Californian and treating cars too well anyway.

So if you could help me out I'd appreciate it.

Again, it has to be from a 1988 model 4Runner. If you could include a pic while mounted in the rear of the truck that would be great as well.

Thank you for the help.

Has to be from an 88? Not just from any first gen?

I would think they'd be the same from any first gen, but as I mentioned, this one I was sent just doesn't seem right.

I'd like to see exactly what an 88's jack looks like just to be certain.

I suppose anything at this point would be a help, considering I can't find anything at all online.

The jack works fine, but when I mount it in the rear storage bracket there seems to be too much play. It doesn't seem as snug as the now stolen jack.

Of course, I never actually took that old bottle jack out, dammit.

If I'd have had a flat I'd know.

I blame BF Goodrich for that, bastards. Their tires never 'break'.

Edit: Cabbage, if you'd like to include a pic that'd be great, especially if you could take a pic of it in the rear storage compartment.

If you'd rather send them over here's my address:

This is the one in my '85:

According to my EPC, '85 and '93 4Runners have a different jack but I cannot see why two 1st gens would be different. The EPC lists p/n 09110-35121 for the '85 and 09110-89103 for the '93. If you like, shoot me a VIN and I can see which one you're supposed to have. They all fit loose as far as I've ever known. Once you put it in place, turn the crank a little to extend it until it's snug in the bracket. This is what I do anyway.

Thank you toy.

That looks exactly like the one I was sent, so perhaps I'm just being a ninny.

For some reason though, I remember the bell part of the jack being larger or more rotund. And despite that, it was a darker brown with a few more decals.

The Yotayard jack is fine for the purpose of lifting the car, but I'm aching for my glistening, never-used jack.

:sigh:

I'll send you the VIN when I get back to the house and have a chance to check.

toy283's pic looks exactly like my 86, so no change there.

Want that one? I don't use it anymore since I discovered that they're useless when you try to use them and then truck falls off. When the truck is resting on the brake drum/rotor, you cannot get the bottle jack under the axle anymore. To fix this, I went out and bought a cheap 2-ton hydraulic floor jack and mounted to the rollbar.

Nerd!

You should have offered it to me before I shelled out the whopping $25 for a used one!

Didn't you know I was buying one by the posts I didn't make? I mean, can't you read my mind?

And I'm sure I'll be getting a Hi-Lift once I build my rear bumper, but still...

I'm one of those purist people who likes everything to be stock. As such I'd like to have the jack that came with the 4Runner.

:sigh:

Thanks for the offer though, and if you really get to not wanting it I'd be sure to give it a good home. That basically means that I'd probably build a little glass display case for it and put it on a pedestal.

Might it be... You DO know that when you put it in place, you turn the crank knobby a few turns to run the ram out nice and snug so it won't rattle around? Otherwise they all look just like that one in that pic.
