Permacool Fan Install

Here's some pics of my permacool fan install.

http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...08&uid=1757768

You guys probably remember me from my horrible woes with the used flexalite 210 install a year ago. Anyways its all installed. But for the owners who have installed this where is the tap in for the AC. I wanna see pics i do see a wire leading to the compressor but i wanna be sure.

Where are people stick the probe to? I have the probe near the bottom radiator hose.

Looks good.

I'm curious about your experience with the Flexalite fan. I tried to search for a thread, but couldn't find anything. Do you have a link or can you give me some history, please?

Yeah that's it, there is only one wire to the compressor. The compressor is grounded through the block so only one wire is needed to kick on the compressor.

I'm with Gerdo, as I'm going to put a FLX-210 in with my UZ Swap.

A little searching popped up this thread that Kevin started in 2004:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/flex-lite-fan-mishap-45758/

Looks like his issue was around leaking. A couple of folks suggested that he just stuff the thermostat in-between the radiator fins. Dunno if hee tried that or not.

so where are you guys sticking the probe on the radiators. Near the inlet "top" of the radiator? or the outlet "bottom" of the radiator.

Could a heatgun damage the heat probe wiring. Like the wiring leading to the probe.

Outlet, bottom. If you double-clamp it, it will stay sealed. 2 vehicles with 2 separate FLX210 installs over a total of 4 years - never a problem for me.

I bought the stuff from summitracing.

fan- $129
fan controller- $50

You can use summit racing's beat a price guarantee and bring down the total by 11 bucks with this.

http://www.rjays.com/Cooling/elec-fans-01.htm

tell them they got cheaper pricing so they will adjust the price.

There are writeups on customtacos. It seems customtacos favor the permacool setup while the yt'ers favor the flex a lite. I went with the permacool because it was cheaper and i hated the flex a lite's control box.

Hit me up for any questions you might have.

good point. do you mount the temp probe at the top of the rad? in theroy the temp will always be 195* after warm up. temp probe mounted at the bottom of the rad would read the cooled coolant. mounted at the bottom, what would you set the thermostat temp to?

I mounted the probe top psgr side about 2inches under top rady hose. I set it at 2nd temp setting for the control box. This kicks on and off so im happy with it.

I heard that the blades on the Permacool fan tend to fatigue over time and become projectiles.... though it could've just been a rumor.
