Performance Shock Questions?
I have a 97 4Runner 4WD and am looking for a new set of shocks. It has 100,000 miles on the stock shocks. I am planning to do mild trail riding, and some desert crusin. I have been trying to decided between Bilstein HD's, Rancho RSX, Rancho RS9000X adjustable, and Edelbrock. Some prices were.
Bilstein- F 82.99/R 67.99
RSX-60.49
RS9000X-92.38
Edelbrock-?????
I am leaning towards bilsteins and I know everyone that has them loves them, but they are a little pricey for me? Any other comments suggestions? Heard alot of things about KYB(Gas-Adjust, Monomax?) I have little to no feedback about the rancho shocks. Thanks

Spend a little more for the Bils, you won't regret it. I bought the KYBs and they were like riding without shocks, really rough and harsh. Used them for less than 300 miles and bought the Bils. No opinions on the Ranchos, but I highly recommend the Bils, spend now and you won't pay later, like the fool I was.

I have the Bils but with the stock springs they are too bouncy instead of stiff feeling. I have OEM coils and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pony up the $$ and get the PP 1" lift springs since it's almost kind of annoying.

Yeah I have thought about OME but I cant find anywhere where i can get just the shocks or a price list or anything? I was also curious about the SAW stuff but cant find any good price/info on that either. Only thing I can pull up for them is prices for their lift kits. Anyone know where I can find that stuff. Thanks for all the input.

BTW nice website waskillywabbit. Good stuff. My ideal purchase would be the OME 3 inch kit, still got 4 years of college to go. Dont have as much free time as I would like.

Ome
Thanks!
Try 4x4rockshop.com and Mike @ ExtremeOffroad. I got my OME stuff at 4x4rockshop.com but I called them, not over the net. Figure about $65 a shock plus shipping though but you won't be disappointed!
Good luck!

Ok so I have narrowed down to OME and Bilstein. Four OME nitro chargers go for 284.95 and Bilsteins HD's go for 302.99?(Both prices w/o shipping) Now im stuck because I have really good things about both and will 20 bucks make that big of difference?

I got my Bils for $282 shipped from www.shox.com and I've heard people ordering from local auto parts stores even cheaper.

I want to install the Bilsteins, but I want to know if they are stiffer than the OEM shocks? Also, I heard they would eliminate the "skip" that occurs when going over bumps, especially in the rear, making it more stable. Is this true? Also, what part # or model # for 98 4Runner 3.4L 4wd?
