Perf Friction Part #???
Hey, Because I live in Canada I had to order my brake pads from Autozone. I ordered performance friction part # 5024 which they have listed as for a 96 landcruiser. My truck is a 99 4runner, auto,v6 w/16 inch wheels. Can anyone check to see the part number they ordered when they got these pads. The guy I spoke to did not show a Perfomance Friction part # for a 99 runner Thanks, Tyler

I've had Performance Friction on other vehicles and really liked them, but they don't make rear shoes. Anyone have any suggestions for good rear brake shoes?

There is a "more correct" part number than 502(4) which is PFC0436.20 or 436. Toyota rear shoes are the best out there that I've seen.

Wow, great write up! Thanks for the info. So even though there is a "more correct" part number the ones I ordered (5024) are identical and will work just as well, is this right?

Yes, there is a new part # from Autozone. The part is the exact same as the 5024, but has a different #. Before, # 5024 (which is the 96 Landcruiser pad) was the only pad available by Performance Friction that happened to fit 4-Runners and trucks. Since the pad fits 4-runners also, Autozone or PF made a new # I quess.
Before you had to lie and tell them you had a Landcruiser for the warranty. I have the 5024's on my 94, and have the new part on my wifes 99. They are EXACTLY the same. I have to continue to tell the guy I have the Landcruiser when I take them back for a free new set. The take the worn ones back, they look your name up on the computer, and give you a new set.

Ok LarsDennert, so if you were me and had already ordered the 5024's would you just go ahead and install them or would you send them back and reorder the 436(2)s for the 4runner??? Thanks again for all the help.

I like these PF pads more than the Perf. Friction pads I had on my Camaro. I had the Race compound and it required to much heat to get them working right on the street. Then again, maybe the Camaro brakes just sucked compared to Toytota brakes...
