Ok, anyone have a clue about pulling this little bastard out of the valve cover? I've already busted the brittle gasket around it knowing that I'd replace it anyway. Now I still can't get the @%#&er out!

I got a pair of pliers and sat the handle of a screw driver underneath for leverage.

yeah, use a pair of vise grips and clamp down on it good and firm. then stick a screwdriver underneath the handle and give it a good whack with your hand. the only hard part after that is getting the new grommet around the new valve and popping it in, it's a bit of a tight fit

Dude, I know exactly how you feel. I had the exact same situation with my 85 Yota and I just went to town on it. A piece did fall into the valve cover hole, but a pair of needle nose bailed me out. good luck.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but just a quick question. I've seen those mini cone filter looking breathers that some people have replaced the pcv valve with. Whats the advantage of doing this?

extra oil lubrication all over your engine bay.... at least that was my experience with dunces doing it to their DSM's.

take out the valve cover, get vise grips, stand on the valve cover and pull on it til it comes off. it came off in a flash, but it was a strain on my back though...

I take it you have sprayed it good with your favorite brand of penetrating oil and let it soak. May as well replace the hose as well.

I trick for getting any rubber hoses grommets is to spray with silicone spray makes it so much easier
