Part out an '85 4runner?
A buddy of mine rolled his '85 4runner SR5 a week ago and it's pretty bad, no full coverage either. Roof is smashed in and the driver side is all messed up. It was rollin on 33's and had a 5" suspension lift + 3" body lift. Anyway, he's in college and didn't have anything to do with it so he gave it to me. Just wondering how well you guys think I'd do if I parted it out. I could cut the roof off and make a pretty sweet toy out of it to beat on but I really don't want to do that. I know I probably wouldn't have much of a problem selling the straight axle, how about the other stuff on it?

I'm not exactly sure how much I want for everything yet, I need to see it and assess the damage. I may be able to get more for it parting it out than if I sold the whole thing together.

Well I got the 4runner. Went and picked it up yesterday from Long Beach. One of the rims was bent and the tire popped off the bead but we were able to beat the wheel back and get the tire to hold air. We also got it running, so I drove it up onto the trailer for the ride home. Although the roof is caved in and the body's beat up it's not half as bad as I thought it would be. Runs just like it did before the accident and still drives fine. I still think I'm going to part it out though because I think I can get more for it by selling the parts than if I just sold it outright. I'll be parting it out next Saturday unless someone makes me an offer I wanna take. I'm gonna strip it and crush the body with a forklift, then to the scrap bin it goes.

If it is an SR-5 model, I would really be interested in buying the rear seats, as well as a lot of the interior parts (door panels, gauge cluster, rear sidel panels, etc...)

It is in fact an SR5. Not sure how many panels are salvagable but I know the rear seat is fine. The drivers side door got all banged up but I think the door panel may be ok. The rear plastic ones may have cracked but I'll definately check them out for ya.
