P O L L _____ Air Compressor? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Hey Guys______ I’m at the point were I NEED an on board compressor. And I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask::::
a) which brand of compressor you use
b) cost
c) are you satisfied with brand
d) how long does it take to fill 35’s from 10psi,s to 32 psi,s
e) How do you have it set up (quick release, if you use bottle, what size etc.)
f) And finally if you were to do it over what would you do__________________
THANKS BAYRUNNER

This really isn't a poll at all... what a jip! I was all ready to vote on something, too.

I vote "c" though!

A) ViAir 550C
B) Not Cheap
C) Absolutely satisfied
D) About two minutes, give or take, I haven't timed that range
E) I have the compressor mounted in a tool box so that I can take it out and use it as a portable, but 99% of the time, the tool box is in my bed box, wired and plumbed so I can use the compressor as a hardmount. I have a 2.5 gallon tank on mine, mounted under the bed as well.
F) I would skip the two ARB's and one Quick-Air II compressors I murdered on the way to this one and just go for the gusto to begin with.

1. extremeair
2. $315+ a lot of little extras to make it work
3. yes
4. don't have 35's ... takes about 2-3 min/tire for 33"
5. hard mount, with 2.5 gallon tank
6. not wait till the last minute to get it done

Hey Guys _________ Does the stock A/C Compressor unit from an 84 Toyota give out enough VOLUME of air to fill 35”s at a reasonable rate??????Is there anyone out there that has converted there A/.C compressor for airing up and are you happy with its performance and if not why and what would you do instead????????Also how long does it take you to go from 10 to 32psi”s ,I”m wondering if it’s a good way to go since it’s already in my truck, but if the performance if inferior, I’ll be willing to go another route.______ THANKS BAYRUNNER

You are going to get the most volume of air thru a belt driven compressor. I think I remember reading that a belt driven compressor will put out 8 CFM while a highly rated electric will do 4.? at the most. http://www.extremeoutback.com/index....=7824451.30871
check the belt driven VS electric.
My buddy made a bracket for his 4 cyl truck and went to a junkyard and bolted it up and it worked great.(he had two compressors one for A/C the other for airing up) Lot's of work, but can be done if you have the room.

i was reading an article on the recent 4wp mag bout compressor vs airtank and they say that over the long haul you get more for your money vs recharging a c02 tank etc 300+ is a little hard to swallow though

Maybe there's something in this thread that might be of some interest on converting air conditioner pumps over.
