Question "Oversized" Oil Filter?

I'm planning on using Wix oil filters on my 2005 V6 4Runner, and I'm interested in your experiences. It seems like the "standard" filter for this application would be the Wix 51348, which replaces the Toyota 90915-yzzD3, 90915-yzzB5, and the TRD 90915-200004.

But there's a bigger filter that seems like it would work - Wix 51515. This is a replacement for the TRD 90915-007.

Anyone have experience with these filters on a current generation 4Runner?

Thanks!

i actually have one bigger than that on my truck, but i have a 22r, so i have room for it... as long as you have room, its fine, if you dont have the room, stick with the stock one.....

search the term "oversized filter" or "oversize oil filter" and you will find at least 2-3 threads on the topic.

Thanks, Jim. Yep, there's plenty of room for the oversized filter, so I'm going to give it a try.

And thanks, Bob. Yep, I've done that, both here and on several other 'yota forums. I learned a lot, actually. But I still haven't read about anyone using an oversized filter on a current generation Toyota V6 4.0L engine. Was just curious what folks think about it, and specifically what oversized filters have worked for them. I've decided to give the Wix 51515 a try, but I was hoping to hear from someone else who has had good results with that filter on this engine, before making the leap. :-)

Anyway, thanks again, and I'm glad you were gentle with this noooob!

Enjoy!

wix uses a weird numbering system, well maybe the fram #s are jsut more common to people... anyways the fram filters suck, but their # system works... the filter above is the same one most v6 fords use and is a ph-3600 .... i have a ford fl-1a, which is huge, its a ph-8a, the toyota filter is a ph-3614... the wix is a good filter... napa gold...
