Optima Yellow Top D51R - Anyone with experience???
http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/
Has anyone installed the D51R Yellow Top Battery?
It's a reverse post deep cell battery that 9" tall and should fit without the hight spacer. However it's only 5" wide instead of 6.8
Any thoughts ?

Sorry bro, I don't have an answer, but I do have a question. I know a lot of guys here are using the Optima. I believe the Orange top was the one with the correct terminals. I saw Red and Blue tops at Costco yesterday. Can anyone list the model # of the Optima that fits the 3rd gen and if that spacer lift is needed? My battery may be going soon. Thanks guys.

Well, the 34R has the "reverse" terminals and that's what you want unless you want to replace the battery cables.
The 34R is a red top (no longer orange) and not the yellow deep cell.
You will need to get (or make) a height adapter if you want the battery to be the same hight as the old one and be held down properly by the factory bracket.

I put in a Yellowtop a while back. I used a 1" board for a spacer to raise it up a bit so I could use the stock mounting bracket. I bought a short positive battery cable to extend the positive. The big negative wire was long enough, but I had to extend the short ground wire that connects to the body. Here's a pic:
