Optima battery in a 2002 Tacoma
My truck came with a Yellow top Optima battery, I noticed when I bought it that the battery tie down dosen't work for the optima, the battery is a little short compared to a stock battery.
So I tried to put some abs plastic blocks under the battery tie down and on the top of the battery, then tightened it down, I figured it would work good, but I noticed that it lossened up and the battery moves around now.
Right now I have it tight and a rachting tie down mouted on the fender wall and wraping the battery.
I was wondering what others have done to have their optimas fit?
Pics if you can....please

Bungie cords and duct tape??
I've heard that Optima batteries don't fit properly in other vehicles also, the shape is so different than most 'regular' batteries. I wonder if WabFab could 'fab' something up for you?

yea ive got the spacer in, its not the height so much as it is the width, it slides front to back and side to side because the tie-downs dont hold on to the sides well enough

Wabfab....you rock, let me know what you come up with. I hate that battery moving around, the strap I have around it just looks hokey...
oh and bungee cord.....that wouldn't stop a heavy ass battery from going where ever it wants.
but duct tape......ummmmm

"spacers" and "2x4s" will not pass many ORV park inspections...if they bother. I know not a TLCA event.
I will come up with something this week/weekend as the mount is the same for a lot of years/models...and the 97 I picked up is one of them.

I would get a picture up, but we are in the middle of relocating to Montana and the camera is all packed up.
Let me know what you come up with, I will be out of town for a week and half starting friday.

with the optima spacer this is how it sits on my 02 taco. The battery doesn't move at all. I do have a little piece of rubber under the two L shaped metal pieces..
