Opinions on 4runner vs LC
I'm looking between a 99 4x4 Limited 4runner
99 4X4 LX 470
98 4X4 Landcruiser
All have under 100,000 miles, what are the ups and downs of getting the 4runner to the 100 series. I really want black but they're hard to find.

Actually the 100's are around 15k and the runner is 10k.
I've tried looking for the FJ-80 but there's very few within 500 miles of me.

Well the 4Runner and Pickup is known around the world as the SON OF THE LANDCRUISER...So why not go for the DADDY. landcruisers are built like tanks..much stronger than any 4Runner...by FARRRRR.

Both the 4Runner and the LC are nice vehicles. I would say that between the two IFS rigs you are considering, the 4Runner may be more manueverable offroad due to its shorter wheelbase and overall length, it is narrower and slightly higher off the ground. Both the 4Runner and the LC are available (read: optional) with a rear diff lock. The LC has more space but you'll get SEVERAL miles per gallon less fuel efficiency, which I would say is its biggest downfall.

4Runner if you're gonna wheel.
LC for the street - too nice of a vehicle to have on the trails.
I despise how Toyota offers all the traction stuff (F/R Lockers in SA's) on the flagship SUV's that will not see any trail time

I had a 95 LC for several years that the wife drove, we sold it to get her a miii, miniiii vaaaaa..., sorry I just can't say it. We sold it to buy her a smaller multi passenger conveyance.
I loved that Cruiser but I just couldn't think of taking something that I owed that much money on off road. It also felt underpowered to me.

I have a 1999 4Runner and a 1997 FJ80 Cruiser. The only thing I like about the 4Runner over the Cruiser is the mpg. The Cruiser is much more stabile on the road and has had fewer defects. It's was a little underpowered but I added a TRD supercharger and now it has gobbs of power. It has the factory front and rear lockers, and no, I don't take it off road, but we do get snow here, lots of it. The cruiser has about 108,000 on the clock and I figure it has at least another 200,000 to 300,000 in it. According to my wife it's not for sale....but....
