*** OOoOooOo! Another Safari Rack in the works! SICK BUILD PHOTOS! ***

Hey everyone!

I'm sure some of you saw the last thread I started about my own personal safari rack. It received quite a bit of good feedback. Well ~ a local guy near me has a pretty stout Jeep Cherokee, noticed mine, and wanted something similar. He told me to use my creative discretion when building it, all he requested is that it have enough Who-Ha to hold a 33x10.50 TSL and 4 Hella 500s.

So here is the 50% shots. The platform is done, with exception to welding the expanded metal to the outside ring. I'm waiting to put the sides on, just so the supports can be welded nicely.

LMK What you think! If anyone one wants one of these, please let me know. Working with raw metal and welding is soothing to me after long day of the daily grind.

Looking good so far. I agree, getting away to work on things like that really releases some stress.

I could be down for one of those. Where do you live? Approximate cost for a 3rd gen?

My buddy once made one mostly for show out of yellow PVC for his burgundy Cherokee. He'd mounted a few lights on it etc. Looked nice, but wasn't good for carrying much more than cotton balls.

yeti: I'm in NY, roughly halfway between NYC and Albany. Depending on what you want, the cost would vary. PM me if you wanna chat more, I'll do it pretty cheap just for fun.. I also can move one in a 100mi radius if you want to meet up. Shipping one of these will be pretty expensive.

awareness: I know that the rack I built for my 3rd gen holds 300LBS no problem (sat in it while wiring up the lights and I'm 6'1'' 260lbs.). The one for the Cherokee here should easily hold 400+ provided I can get three mounting points each side.
