im purchasing an OME 3" setup from toytec and am running a TJM bumper upfront, and possibly drawers in the back...when i build them. Im gonna do the 882/891 combo for springs, but was wondering thoughts on the shocks.... who's gone comfort vs. normal and whats better? i do 90% onroad/hwy driving...

also, planning panhard drop bracket and front diff drop... any other suggestions?

I did normal, It is smooth a can be over regular road noise, and only jars around over big bumps, such as un-filled pot holes, and deep washboard. But pretty much every car does that.

i have the standards up front and skyjacker 8000 nitro's out back ride is very nice alot better than the worn out stock stuff

i have the comfort ones but i just installed them this past weekend... they run kinda rough right now but im sure theyll be much better once i break them in.

Would depend on the weight of the bumper and how much off road use you intend.

toytec coilovers up front and comforts in the back... i ain't no expert, but they seem fine to me i went comfort since its my DD to and from work and the occassional weekend warrior stuff.

I have the normal shocks. they are great. much better than stock

I did the N91SC comfort valved shocks with the 882 coils about 6 months ago. Even though they're listed as "comfort" shocks, don't expect a plush ride with them. My setup is firm and very controlled and the ride is nice over nearly all surfaces. I don't have an aftermarket bumper, which may make a difference, but my guess is that the firm shocks would be very harsh! My recommendation would be the comfort shocks.

I too got the N91SCs upfront and im glad I did not get the normal ones as I believed they would be very harsh. I have N86 in the back with 891 springs. No complaints

I run 881/906 springs with N91SCs and N86. I wish I went with comfort shocks in the back.

I have 882/890 with the normal shocks (stock bumper) and it rides really good.

Instead of the 882's you might want to consider the 883s. They much thicker coil with a higher spring rate and they don't sage like the 882s tend to do. I have a ARB with a winch and run the 883s with the OME normal shocks and th ride is actually pretty smooth.

I would go with 883's with a TJM, I kinda wish I would have got the 883's even with the stock bumper.

Call me a panzy, but i had this setup for my DD and i thought it was too harsh, i swapped out the 890's for stock springs and spacers. But with your drawers adding extra weight it might not be bad, i recommend comfort shocks.

I run the normal shocks/struts all 4 corners. Tundra coils front/OME 890 rear. I wish I would have gone with the Comfort shocks, mainly in the rear. The front feels nice, but the rear is a big pogo stick like. Too bouncy/harsh for my taste, but I don't currently have a spare or trailer hitch back there. I think with some weight in the back they would be fine.

if the car feels bouncy, then it means that the shocks are underdampened for that spring. I don't know if the difference in the normal and comfort shocks are in the compression or the rebound, but in either case if bounciness is the issue, you may need to start thinking about changing the springrates. Going to a softer valved shock will only make the problem worse

Guess I should say more harsh than "bouncy", but it's not plush feeling by any means. I don't mind it too bad though, it is a truck based SUV and not a mall crawling station wagon.
