OME install: The Next Chapter

Well this morning, Steve and I met up again to correct the issues with lift and tilt. We swapped the rears around, and wouldn't you know it, the taller spring was on the wrong side. I still say we installed them according to the labels, and that the labels were wrong. Swapping them did cure the tilt issue in the back.

Moving on to the fronts, we pulled them off and swapped the 882's for 881's. What a difference. We still had a height difference in the front, so we added trim packers to the right front. That brought it to around 1/4" difference side to side when measuring ground to frame. The front is now at around 2" of lift.

2" is fine. It's really all you need for 285's. That's all I have.

The pictures are not longer showing up on here. Also, I just got off the phone with OME and they said the OME HD front coils will only yield at most 2" of front end lift on a stock 4runner, which is really weird you got 3.5" of lift. Where can I find your pictures again?

How long have you had your 881's on now? What shocks did you run upfront too? It looks like after your change back to the 881's you yielded right at 2" of lift up front, which is what I'm looking for. Has it sagged at all since then?

I beleive I'm going to go with the 881's and comfort shocks, because I'm running the addco swaybar upfront on the road with discos. The rear, I'm just running the stock swaybar, so I'm going to run the firm shocks in conjunction with the 890's in the rear to help compensate for not having the addco in the rear.

What do you think?

would the firm shocks be too hard in the rear? Especially since you really don't have any weight back there compared to the front. My passengers have complained about the bumps being too hard in the back, so I was planning on going with the comfort shocks in the rear, but I was thinking that'd be too soft off-road?

I don't think so because I'm going with the mediums springs instead of the firm springs, and I'm not running the addco in the rear because it reduces the rear flex like 4-5 inches from stock. I think it will be a great combo.

Yeah, I lost those links due to my montypics account expiring.

If by HD coils in the front you mean 881's, then yes, 2" lift is about right. I have 881's on there now.

I had the VHD 882's for one week, that's what got me 3.5" up front and had my CV's jacked.

I've had my coils on there for 4-5 months now. I haven't noticed any sag as of yet.

I also have HD coils/HD shocks in the rear. I don't mind the ride, but some people sitting in the back may think its too harsh.

After getting hammered by Gadget and Steve Schaefer about the SAWS over and over, I've decided to bite the bullet and get the SAWS instead of the OME's up front.

In the rear, I'm going to go with either the 890's or the downeys, and I'm slightly leaning towards the downeys because it comes with the e-brake kit and the hardware I'm going to need for my 18" mastercraft limiting straps from what I understand. If I go with the OME 890's, on the other hand, I'll have to get someone to make the e-brake kit, and get the hardware for the limiting straps separate too. I figure the downeys and medium 890's will yield right around the same amount of lift, and the downeys will save me some time, I guess.
