OME Front Suspension Install Help

Attempting to install an OME suspension in my 98 4Runner but having tremendous trouble compressing the front coil spring with coil spring compression tools and still having room to fit the spring/shock while compressed. Any help regarding compressing the spring/installing spring/shock in front?

Keep compressing...you may want to disconnect the ball joint that links the top of the spindle to the upper control arm and jack that part of the setup down to get more clearance. other than that(sorry, 4th gen cat here), just get tough with the sucker and send it into place. hope that helps.

Yes, this has been covered before. Some people have had success using the OEM bottle jack to help get the assembled spring/shock assembly in place.

That's a great write up on how to incorrectly install the lower cup.

and when you install the cup the wrong way you don't get the 1.5" of lift the coil provides.

Do you have the coil-shock assembled? Is it all ready to be installed in to the truck?

If so, the best method is used above. Take your bottle jack and put it upsidown on the upper a-arm and the inside wheel well. Screw it till it is pushing down the A-arm at a pretty good angle. Make sure that its secure though, because I had it pop out on me!

Best thing to do is put it far down so you can install the newly assembled strut...hand tighten the top three bolts, and then ajust the jack up/down until you can look through the bottom eyelet mount and stick that big bolt back through.

You know that you have to take the coil spring compressors off before installing, right?

Wink Strut mount replacement?

Is the strut mount usually repaced or can the old ones with (133K) be reused.
Thanks

You can reuse them just fine about 99% of the time.
