OME 882 or else...

Well,
I now have a Warn XD9000 winch that I am about to install (hopefully with BruceTS's help and expertise). My nose is already about an inch lower than the rear (check the sig for current setup). I know adding the winch will lower the front a touch more (man that sucker is heavy!). I am not sure if any sort of Top Out Spacer would give me the amount of lift I will need.

RT Dawgs, gapguy, TDiddy, Shawn, Waskilly and other's have had mixed success and much more info than I with OME 882's. Much of what I have read was regarding something someone was going to do. Not much on the results.

So, what would everyone recommend?

OME 882?
Revtek Top Out?
Other Spring Combo?
Other Spacer Combo?

Let me hear it!

Check that out...

Tundra Coils w/ one of my spacers and OME shocks give you 2.0" and if you double-stack the spacers on top, you can get 2.5". I have a Warn M8000 w/ syn line and a SC up front, so I've got a little weight to compare to.

Talking

My 882s worked well and seemed to sit level, the CV angles looked good, but supposedly I had the bottom cup on upside down. :pat:

I don't think you can find a cheaper option than just getting 882s as the Tundra shocks and the spacers etc will cost you more than just 882s. Don't forget that the steel winch cable adds quite a bit of weight compared to synthetic.

I don't worry about such things anymore with a SFA.

I've had good luck with my 882's, OME heavy duty shocks, and one trim packer per side. I have an ARB Prado bar, Warn M8000 (metal cable), and trailcarnage skidplates. I have no complaints with mine-my front end is still a little lower than the rear-I have 892's and OME heavy duty shocks in the back. But my cv boots are at the perfect angle-the inside boots rub a little-but the outer boots do not rub. Any more lift in the front than what I have and I think you'll have cv boot issues.

Don't forget that the dude already has the OME shocks. He'd only need the Tundra coils ($160) & the spacer/stud kit. Aren't the OME coils around $150? The cost difference is worth every penny.

I am putting all of my faith into the Tundra coil setup. I've had stock, 882's, SAW's and now these. 882's are stiff. The ride is very good with the Tundra coils, and it's already been proven to do EXCELLENT off-road.

Go Tundra!

The steel weighs MAYBE 15-20# more than the amsteel. The weight is in the winch and fairlead, not in the cable.

The BIG difference between the Tundra Coils (2WD TRD are like $40-$50 used + $47 for the spacer and studs for a total of about $100) and the OME 882's ($150+) aren't necessarily in the ride height, but in the ride comfort (TRD = MUCH softer) and off-road flex.

You probally trust Steve Schaefer's opinion when it comes to suspension stuff as well since he's done alot of testing with different stuff. He's now running Tundra coils w/ stock arms. Ask him what he thinks about 882's and tundra TRD Coils...

by cups we mean the spring cups (the black cup on the bottom of the strut that holds the coil) and yours are right.

i have 881s for clarification, but either 882s or Tundra coils will work.
