Old Gasket removal....AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Ok, I pulled my TB off of the intake plenum and replaced the driver's side valve cover gasket cuz the old one was leaking like a sieve. (It was hard as a rock too.) Got the VC back on then went to scrape off the old TB gasket when I discovered that b!tch did NOT want to come off!

4+ hours later with a SHARP gasket scraper and some Goof Off universal solvent I got it all off.

There has GOT to be an easier way to take off old gaskets!!! Otherwise pulling the intake plenum is not going to be very pretty....

get a good gasket scraper, and use a fresh blade on the difficult ones. if you can, try and get underneath the gasket, seems to be the ticket for me. often times you can just flake it all off in one shot.

I use my air die grinder and one of those rough scotch brite pad disc
works like a charm - the scotch brite pad will eat the gasket and shine up the aluminum without eating it. Have not used a gasket scraper in years !
