OK I've narrowed it down to this....

I think I found my problem. I thought it was the motor but now I believe that the teeth on the gears that move the window up and down are stripped. They look like someone who has no dental plan. I put a picture on my site. Check it out and tell me what you think:

Sorry for the blurry pic but my camera is cheap. What part am I going to have to replace? Is that the regulator? Help me out guys.

hey nice!

from what i can remember of swapping out the motor on my old 86, you definately want to keep that pita spring clamped cause its a beech to retension! if the small plastic gear on the end of the motor shaft is chewed up at all it will make a "dat dat dat" type noise and the glass will either not move at all or only with assistance. check out cebbys post on replacing the motor,(at least i hope it was him!) and you should be fine. hope this helps.

hmm...well I'll take some better pics of it tomrrow but I was thinking that the motor gears were not gone? The teeth are gone on one of the gears in there but it was metal...i think...well i took a break from the window while replacing the belts and am going to be replacing the plugs tomorrow....it does make that dat dat dat noise that your talking about though....did your problem fix when you replaced the motor??

yup, sure did! the window worked great and not "dat dat dat" anymore! i could see the small groove down the centre of the motor gear and it was just deep enough to not engage properly to operate the window. look for a rear door window motor from a corrolla, i think left side, its the same motor as the runner window motor but a lot less expensive. hope this helps.
