Oil filter change (not the oil)
How messy is it to change the filter without changing the oil? I'd like to switch to synthetic and from all the reading I've done (WAY too much reading) I understand that oil can last a lot longer than simple filters (I have 3 filters that I need to use up, before I switch to expensive stuff that can last as long as oil).
I change oil myself and it's messy enough already (with ADBV). Will oil be coming out of the block if I leave the oil in and just replace the filter, or does it sit below oil fliter line, with engine off?
Thanks!

If you are going to just change the filter, do it before you drive around all day (like you would to change the oil). It is not warmed up. It helps a bit. I also like anything below the filter w/ tin foil, some guys place a funnel below the filter. It's a little messy but not too bad.
