oh ˟˟˟˟˟ handle
hey i remember reading something about an extra handle borrowed from the rear of his runner to place on the driver side. i played around with mine and think i've found the same holes that were mentioned that were already there for another handle, but toyota just didn't put in.. my question is, i can feel the hole but before i punch a hole through the fabric i want to make sure those holes already have a nut or something for me to run the bolts/screws into (i don't want to tap some bracket toyota has put in). i'm hoping there is a hole that all i need to do is bolt on the handle. I have a 89 pickup, the guys was a runner, and ideas? thanks, ryan
ps, the guy that did the mod was Roger Brown, known on 4x4wire didn't know if ya'll knew of him over here or not. thanks again

Well I did that too, although mine's a 98. The holes you found are correct, Toyota just didn't install a 2nd handle on the DS. The holes (at least on mine) are threaded, so you can just use some screws.
I just bought a new handle for mine, insted of borrowing one from the back. It was under $20 from the dealer.

Well it's not that Toyota didn't see fit to add it, they only put them on the passanger side.. If you had a right hand drive, that is when those screws would be used.. My, I use my Safari.. Keeps my butt from slidding across my aged leather seat..

Hey guys, i was going to do this mod after reading this post, but I can only seem to find 1 predrilled hole. am I just missing it or what?
I've got a 2000 sr5, and maybe they didn't put the second hole there????

I bet you're just missing it. I thought it was easiest to find them by standing outside of the 4R, and feeling for them while looking across at the PS. If you try to line yourself up on a straight line, they should pretty much be directly across from the ones on the PS.
