There are two camps for offroad wheels, 1) Aluminum & 2) Steel. Each has been argued many times over which is best. In either case if you don't plan to go wider than a 12.5" tire then you will want an 8" wide wheel for offroad.
Aluminum is stronger but if you bend one your hosed. Aluminum cost much more than steel. Steel is cheaper and if you bend one you can pound it back with a BFH. Chrome plated steel wheels tend to rust after awhile. Pick your poison.

Unique 252 "Streetlock" wheels with the beadlock look and the reinforced rounded lip welded around the outside. Stronger than a "regular" black rock crawler, and $60.00 each at Discount Tire/America's Tire Company...

I have the black rock crawlers and a BFH behind the seat in case I dent one too much. I have no complaints and they were cheap.

Hey Terry, good to see ya over here! I've been considering a set of rock crawlers too. I sort of like these from Wheeler's Off Road.

Hey Doink..whats the backspacing on yours? i am looking to get some....and im looking at the 15x8 and i would like them to stick out of the wells a little..and that is the back spacing that makes them do that right?

Mine have the 3.75" backspacing. They stuck out enough that I could see my rear tires in my side mirrors. After wheeling them like that for a while I decided to get the Bushwacker Extend-a-fender flares. Now they are covered like the stock alloys were. All I need now is a matching spare wheel.

Having your tires stick out a little has a couple of advantages offroad. 1) The wider stance provides more stability, 2) On the driver's side they are more visible, easier to place 'em on a rock or picking the right line, 3) In a tight situation the wheels can actually save your sheet metal from trail rash.
