OEM tires

When I bought my 4runner last week I noticed that the Sport came with raised white letter tires (Dunlops). I also noticed that a SR5 had a set of Michelin Cross Terrains and another SR5 had a set of Brigstones. As part of my deal I had the dealer put the Michelins 265/65/17's on to my Sport and move the white letter Dunlops to the SR5. I did this after reviewing information on the internet about all three tires. Comments and ratings on www.tirerack.com was a major source during my search. One thing I discovered was the Michelin Cross Terrains were rated much higher and cost 2 times as much as the other two OEM brands being used by Toyota on the 4runner. It seems strange to me that Toyota would put better tires on the SR5 model versus the Sport or the Limited. The tire choice seemed random. It also became clear that the tire choices for future tire replacement seems very limited in the 265/65/17 size. I am sure it will be a couple of years before I need new tires but what are you guys finding as replacement tires and what do you think of the random quality/brand placement of tires Toyota uses on the 4runner?
