Odd Smell and Slight Vibration

I have a 1997 4Runner SR5 5 speed and for the past few days I've noticed a burning smell coming from the rear of the vehicle after driving it to and from work. I recently replaced the fluids in the transmission, transfer case, and rear diff and was worried maybe I hadn't used the proper type or amount of fluid but after double checking it all seems correct. I even took the fill plug out of the rear diff but all the fluid is there and it doesn't smell burnt. While driving home today a very slight but noticeable vibration in the steering wheel occasionally reared its ugly head for a couple seconds and it has me worried. I've searched under the vehicle and cannot find a leak anywhere. I know this is not the most descriptive help post but this is all I've got to go on and I'm pretty new to the Toyota family so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

make sure the brakes are not too tight , check the axle seals make sure no diff fluid is getting in there. may have a carrier bearing issue if you have a ext cab.
