Observations on the Deckplate mod....
A while ago I did the DP mod on my parent's 4Runner, along witht he ISR mod. I rattlecanned both the exhaust pipe (2.5" expanded to 2.75") and the DP. Used flat black spray paint from AutoZone.
My parents were complainign of the noise on the Highway, so I plugged the DP. I took the 4Runner to work yesterday. On the way home, I floored it. It usually gets to the 70MPH/5200RPM shift pretty quickly witht he deckplate open from 45MPH. Well, that time, It took longer. Possibly 4-5 seconds longer. exact same stretch of road. Cooler temps. Same 45-70 run.
Seems that the DP really does make a difference.

I did the FIPK kit on my 22RE and actually get better performance with the stock airbox using a K&N filter.
Will the deck plate mod give me too much air like the FIPK did??
I'll do allmost anything for MORE POWER! Hehehehee
