:wtf: I just changed my gears and put on new tires and wheels last week and now my brakes are screwed up. Don't know how it happened, but now they will get up to pressure when the engine is off, then I start it up and the pedal will sink to the bottom. It'll go down to the bottom, but when I pump them up they'll get to pressure and feel normal. I've bled them a million times after I've changed the master cylinder (bench bled it), and replaced both calipers (one was siezed up with rust). There isn't a bubble of air anywhere near those lines. The driver side wheel cylinder does bleed a little funny, but it worked just fine before. It makes me think its a vacuum leak (changed the checking valve). Because when I bled the brakes while then engine was running, the idle would change when the brakes were held, pumped, or left alone. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I changed the front brakes on my 84 Camry a few months back. After that, my brakes failed. It seemed I could pump them up, but I would have very little stopping capability. It turned out my master cylinder had died.

Much earlier, I had noticed a loss in braking ability on a trip I had taken. I didn't realize the master cylinder was going out. The extra pressure from the new pads must have made it more noticeable.

I'm not saying this is what is wrong with yours, but it could be a possibility.

Did you bleed the LSP & BV ?---- did I bleed the what?

oh. nope I didn't. but I just went a real good garage and with them we found out it was the dam# wheel cylinder leaking. of course its the first thing I should have changed since it was messed up.... thanks though, I appreciate the help.

Where is the bypass valve? I know about LSPV. It still sinks down even after changing this stuff, including wheel cylinders now. The brakes feel a lot better now but they still feel spongy on the first pump. They don't go all the way to the floor but real close.
I'm beginning to think this is never gonna end!?
