Not another slider thread

Just started cutting my main bars yesterday and wanted some input on spacing and total length. My total length right now is 85" on the main bar. It looks okay to me other than maybe the front - could be a little close to the wheelwell. I angled them so it's not a 90 (/) but it still looks close. I was thinking you would want the entire length covered but noticed on my search that many sliders are pulled back from the front wheelwell.

As for spacing - I'm leaving 1/2" below and outward from the pinchweld. Does this sound about right? Thanks boys. This is for my '99 Taco X-Cab

Yes, I will post pics later.

Andy

Sounds about right Andy. I believe that sliders are a little far away from the front wheelwell so you don't have to redo your sliders if you go up a tire size or so.

Thanks Ryan, I think I will take them back just a hair in case I do bump up to 33's.

I also see some folks putting that main bar under the pinch-weld but I think I am going to put it at the 1/2" out mark. Any thoughts.

The thought behind under the pinch weld is to distribute the load should the sliders flex enough to contact the pinch weld.

I would make them as close to the wheel wells as possible. I have seen people with short sliders dent their fenders on rocks.

Roger that. I'll post up when I start to make some real progress.

How did your sliders come out? Did you go with a 1/2" below the pinchweld? Would you have changed that?
