Non-gen3 4runner front seats: Retrofit?
I have a base model 4cyl 4runner and I never liked the seats. The seat is bench-style, very flat and not a bucket style.
I want to replace it with another set of seats, preferably bucket seats.
I was thinking of 03+ 4runner cloth seat or any other seat with great comfort.
Anybody with experience retrofitting seats? Any ideas?

Before someone says something rude, I'll gently advise you to do a search for "seat swap." Most of what you'll see will pertain to earlier generations of trucks. Generally you can swap your bench seat for same year range 4Runner seats easily. The tech will be in the searched threads. I haven't done it yet as I'm lazily searching for some gray SR5 seats for a first gen 4Runner. The seats from my 2000 will fit in my 1989 with modfication on one bolt.

Old post...but newer info.

This guy put mid 90s Grand Cherokee seats in his Taco. No less, he found powered ones. Cut the plugs out of the donor truck and wired a power and ground and he was off and running. Other than that, he just put the seats where he wanted them, drilled new holes and used new hardware. Then plugged the old holes.
Me personally, I am going to look for manual seats because I am tired of the fascia getting knocked around. Found a good deal on a pair...may pull the trigger.

The Jeep seats were much more narrow (mounting spots) than the 4Runner. Lame. I liked the seats otherwise.
