Noisy fuel pump

I replaced my fuel pump yesterday with an Airtex brand pump. I have been told these pumps are pretty good. My OEM pump was almost silent. This pump is loud enough that I can hear it inside the vehicle. I pulled it out this evening to check the installation and everything looks good. No metal to metal contact and the rubber insulators are positioned properly. Anyone have experience with Airtex pumps? I know I should have stuck with OEM, but money was a factor. If these pumps are typically loud, I will be returning it to buy a Toyota pump.

Aftermarket pumps are usually noisy,no way to avoid that...Its not you its the pump....

Toyota's pumps are very hard to kill.I hope you inspected the tank for scale when you replaced the OEM unit.

Yep, tank was very clean. I only replaced the pump due to suspected faulty check valve in the original pump. I had some times when it took 4-6 seconds for the truck to start. If this doesn't fix it I will replace the pressure regulator next. I could occasionally hear all the fuel rush back into the tank when I turned off the ignition.

Yanked out the Airtex pump tonight. I put a Toyota pump in. Might as well be silent compared to the other. I don't think I'll ever buy another aftermarket part for my truck again. Lesson learned.
