Noise after highway driving
After driving my 98 4wd Tacoma up the interstate for several miles I get a scrubbing or squeaking noise coming from underneath that only occurs when you let off the accelerator. Normal driving around town noise dissappears and get back on the open road it comes back. Any ideas?

I had that EXACT same problem....you accelerate to about 50, let off the gas, and it starts squeaking, right? Dont worry, all you have to do is lubricate your driveshaft...cost me 8 bucks at the oilstop. Took care of it for me.

I have a similar symptom with a 2nd generation. Many people point to wheel balance, u-joints or alignment. I had a bad vibration on the front end that a good alignment solved. Find a shop that has the Hunter 9700 .
Could also be u-joints. I had a vibration above 70 mph that was worse with deceleration & went away with acceleration. After pulling the rear driveshaft and testing in 4WD HI the vibration was gone. Usually, this points to u-joints or driveshaft balance.
However, after getting new u-joints the vibration is still there. Maybe a senior member can assist us.
