No swaybars, front, rear both?

I know that many believe that removing swaybars on 3rd gen 4runners do nothing to help flex offroad but...

Who has removed their front, rear, or both? Tell me more. Do you like it on road and off road?

i have a second gen.. but on my offroad only rig i dont have either sway bar.. i found it does work a little better and they get in the way of changing a diff or other things... on road i would NOT recommend it

I ran without a front swaybar on my 4Runner for quite a while, and now have quick disconnects. While disconnecting may not help number-wise with flex, I like the feel of wheeling with it disconnected. It seems smoother and less stiff.

I have broken both front and rear.

I drive with a front on, but without a rear. I usually disconnect the front before wheeling, it seems like it flexies just a tad more and it is smoother.

The rear flexes farther than the swaybar.

Your gonna lean like a mofo with both off, thats why i made end links for the front of mine.

I am currently not running either, I used to run the rear, but it was causing issues. My truck does lean a good bit in turns, but then again, its not that much more than before

About a year ago I disconnected my front bar and wheeled. I could feel a big difference. It's alot of work to unbolt the endlinks at the trailhead. I've looked at the Wabfab QD. Those with quick disconnects, are yours like the WFs? If you only disconnect the bottom, how do you keep the endlinks from dragging and out of the suspension?

I've got both off on the dd its a little tippy but I really don't mind it. I was too cheap to buy the discos and haven't had them back on since its been lifted so can't really give too much advice on difference in performance but it is not all that bad to drive with them off everyday

i dont use sway bars on the rear or a track/pan hard bar-----but then again--it has been tri-angulated----MUUUUhhhaaaa and flexes like a muther....But it doesnt seem to roll anymore than before...

i ran mine w/ broken front endlinks for over a year without problems. as to the questions about the WF quick disconnects, you may want to look into the 4crawler ones. they're custom made to accomodate lift height, and disconnect at both ends, and you remove the middle section so you dont have to worry about it banging around.

I have the WabFab QD's. You pull the cotter pin at the bottom, take the nut off the top, and pull that threaded part with the bushings out. I don't think it's the most efficient design, but it's the simplest and it works fine.

mine has 2 cotter pins and i just take out the whole center section. unit - are yours stock size or made to accomodate a lift? might be mine have 2 cotter pins since the barrel allows more space since its made for a 3" lift

I took them both off a couple of years ago on my second gen. Greatly improves flex in the rear and helps a little up front. Yes it leans but its higher now and I don't need to drive fast to go places. I take it easy and have no problems. If you are an aggressive driver who does the majority of driving on road then leave them on. If you are patient and can learn to adapt to the sensation of having them off then take them off.

I've run mine without the front for about 6 months. I drive interstate to work every day at high speeds and haven't noticed any difference. I haven't even thought about taking the rear off, though.

one of mine front links are broken
haven't gotten around to replacing it. leans a bit more but whatever
i'll probably will replace them with some WF ones
way better than stock links

The ends don't come in contact with each other when disconnected? Do they make any noise on the road?

These are the ones you have?

As you can see, they're adjustable. I'm stock height right now.

gerdo, yep those are the ones i have. dont know for sure if the ends come in contact offroad. i hardly ever take mine off (remove the center section). i just bought them because they were cheaper than stock replacements and much beefier. even if they did come in contact, the ends are very stout and there would be no harm done. on road, you can hear the cotter pins a bit, but its not loud or annoying, plus i kind of dig the "sound" of me having quick disco's. they are very well built and from looking at the pic unit posted, i think they'll hold up to more abuse than the WF ones.

I know a lot of you guys are big time off roaders,but Please do not disconnect your front bar on public roads..It can be dangerous,not just for you..But for the rest of us out there.

P.S. I have front discos from wabfab,but they stay connected,I bought them to replace the stockers for the beefieness.....No noise from mine,I did tighten them up so that they will never be disconnected though.

I've been running without a front sway bar for over 2 years now and haven't had any issues with safety, for myself or others

I have both my front and rear swaybars off right now and i personally think it is safer for me because it forces me to slow down and that is something i really need, as for being unsafe it is only unsafe if the driver is unsafe. I gain noticable flex without the sway bars on, I have the 3in Toytec also and that makes the sway bars pretty stretched...

After I did my SS lift, i got the fork lift and measured the rear flex with the sway bars connected and disconnected. There was NO difference in flex with them disconnected number wise, but off road I assume it will make suspension movement "easier" with less force working against the susp travel. I didnt get a chance to do the front, but with IFS and the thick sway bar, it will probably make a difference.

With my 92 Toy p/u (IFS) I would disconnect one side of the front bar and it made a good improvment off road

Trail gear 5in has been shipped next, 5.29's, doubler and a buncha other goodies. "If at first u don't succeed , ur probably going about 10 miles per hour too slow."
