No 5-speed double cabs?!?!?

I've been looking into getting a 4runner for a long time now, and its just a matter of being picky and poor. I know beggers can't be choosers, but good thing come to those who wait right? anyways... I got to thinking a double cab tacoma might work just as well for me, so I started looking into them, but they dont seem to have a 5speed in any of the double cabs (i'm not talking about the brand new ones, but the 4th gen tacos) Anyone have any guess as to why there arent any? I was really disappointed when I found that out, but I guess I just have to get a 4runner for sure now.

Your understanding is correct - no pre-2005 Double Cab was ever offered with a manual transmission. Neither was any pre-2005 PreRunner (of any body type).

I have to disagree with you there.

This is the sickest 5 spd double cab ever:

SC'ed, 5 speed, d44 front d60 rear, bogger...the list goes on.

Not only no sticks in the double cab, but no locking diff available in the double cab long bed either.

That's why I'm still driving my 97 4Runner instead of a new Taco, double cab, longbed.

That and the fact that driving a truck the length of a school bus is probably just a pita after a while.

True. But sleeping in that shortbed might be just enough incentive.

Even though that looks like a LOT of fun to stick 2 trucks together, I'll have to save that for a later date. When I get my newer vehicle, I have to sell my older one to pay for part of it. I cant get point A to point B with a pile of parts lol. So I guess I'm stuck lookin for a 5speed 4runner still.
