Newb

Hey guys, I'm a newb all over again. I spend lots of time over on wildyoats but I just heard of you guys. This place seems pretty cool...lots of action and people. Hopefully I'll be contributing some good info...

Welcome Yeah, this site is pretty cool. I see your in Mesa, ever make it up to trhe White Mountains (Show Low Area)? Lots of the guys here are pretty knowledgable and know what they are doing.... as they do on Wild Yoats. This site seems to get a little more play though... And we always look forward to new info and good advice. I see you got a 1st gen runner too, good choice!

I've been up to showlow and pinetop a few times...although I haven't wheeled up there. I'm looking to do payeat draw at first snow!! (Its not in the white mtns...more by payson). You can check out somepics of it here: www.azrockcrawler.com under the trails section.

And yes, 1st Gen runners rock!!!

It still needs a little more though. Gonna try to finish bobbing the top very soon since its getting cold.

Hey.... guess what. Go outside and start your engine... it started snowing around 9pm and theres already 4" of the white stuff on the ground. Nice site too! Haven't been there before but it looks fun! Get the sawzall out and finish that top! I was gonna install my new spring packs on the 80 Toyota this weekend, now I will probably end up shoveling snow!

Hopefully the snow will stay until Sunday. Looks like I got my wish!!

I have the top cut...I just have to resize and weld the window frames and fiberglass the top back together.

What kind of springs are going on the 80? I had an 83 and I loved that truck!!!

2" inch lift springs front and back and an extra inch shackle set. Springs are from NWOR and shackles from Downey. Rancho's front and back for the shocks... This is the new designated trail/ hunting truck, so I am trying to set it up for that. Fitting 33's shouldn't be a prob, I just need to get gears and finish up on all the little quirks to get it trail worthy! Already fabbed up a front bumper, and a new 22r is in the works, almost got her convinced "it's needed". I like my Runner for outings, the ifs gets harrier every time I take it out though! The 80 is slowly getting there and hopefully will be complete by Feb.

Welcome to Yotatech! I'm not biased, but this is the best 4x4 forum for Toyotas I've found...

Just out of curiosity, your sig says you have an 84 and your username is 85. Was 84Runner taken already?

Again, welcome!

Well, I had an 85 so I used 85runner as my name on all the boards I visit as well as ebay and stuff like that. In February, I rolled the 85 pretty badly. The body was not salvageable, but I wanted the runner to be a DD so I couldn't buggy it. I bought an 84 body, rewired it for EFI (using the harness from my 85) and bolted it on to the frame of the 85. I decided to keep the "85runner" since that's how I started out....and my 84 is more 85 than it is 84 anyway.

Thanks for the good welcome everyone!!

Welcome! I think this board is a bit too 3rd gen heavy at times, so you'll help balance things out. I've been looking at 85's lately for a trail rig, so I might be asking you some questions soon!
