Yeah, I just got rid of my '89 w/the 3.0, I got a 2003 Tacoma, 3.4L 5spd,xtra-cab, TRD w/Offroad package. I do a lot of driving and I'm averaging 21 MPG. My old 3.0 got between 21 - 24 MPG. I did a lot of research and the gas mileage between the 4cyl and the 3.4 is pretty much the same, www.edmunds.com I love it! The old 3.0 did me good but it was starting to nickle & dime me to death. A truck with over 310,000 mile will do that and this damn PA RUST!
Take Care!

Why is some 3.0 owners report gas mileage over 20mpg but most claim 15 and under? You will rarely see over 20 in town with the 3.4 (with automatic) but at least you have reasonable power. I have 265/75s on my Runner and I generally see 16.5 but I like acceleration and I'm due for a tuneup and new plugs and I'll do the fuel filter for good measure.
