New pads and rotors

Hi,
I'm about to do a brake job on my truck. Any recommendations? I've never done this before. I'm putting in new rotors and new pads in the front and i will adjust my rears. I hear things about bleeding, do i need to bleed after i swap out pads and rotors? How do you bleed? and what's this thing called a bleeder valve?

Any recommendations on the rears?
This is a 3rd generation limited. 2000.

thanks

As long as you don't open the system you don't need to bleed unless you suspect you have air in the system. I did the Brembo rotors/PF pads about 9 months ago and didn't need to bleed the lines.

It only states that the brembos + pf pads were a pretty good combo.
Is that what you were refering to?

I already ordered the powerslots and plan on getting the PF pads locally.

Is that a good combo as well?

I have the powerslots on now for almost a year. I love them. They are designed to use with the Hawk pads, but since I bought mine through Performance (because they are only 15 minutes away and I needed them that day) the Performance Products pads came free with the new rotors. They have been great!

Sweet! thanks for all the input. Anyone else with powerslots want to put any input in?

also, in the future, when i change pads and not the rotors. Do i still need to machine the rotors?

Ok... so i got my torque wrench from Tirerack.com today. I slipped on the 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch adapter since my socket set was 3/8's and i tried to retorque my lugs on my wheels just to practice and test it out for when i do the brakes. I heard a "click" while tightening the first lug and i assumed that was the wrench's way of telling you that it was finished? I then moved onto the opposite lug, and then right before i heard the click, the wrench spun free. I'm thinking WTF? I looked down and the socket was still onto the lug and i was holding the torque wrench in my hand. The adapter had broken off.

Get this, i called tirerack and they said that since the adapter doesn't come seperate, that they would ship me out a new torque wrench. I asked if i had to send the old one back and they said no.

Am i missing something? They're sending me out a whole new torque wrench just because my adapter broke? haha... sweet! these guys are awesome!

By the way, am i using the torque wrench properly?
I just want to make sure since i'll be doing my brake job this weekend.

thanks
