Hello Yotatech...

I have a 99 4Runner and I was wondering if anyone has been able to configure the wiring of the lights so that you can turn on the parking lights and the fog lights too with out turning on the head lights... Any insight anyone has would be appreciated.... P.Troy.

I wired the foglights independently of the headlights. In other words, I can have the headlights off and the fogs on. Also I can have the fogs on at the same time as the brights. If you turn the headlight stalk only one click, the side markers will only come on. Then, if you have your fogs wired independently of the headlights, you can have the side markers and fogs on at the same time. My configuration can do that.

ummm yeah .. that sounds nice and all .... but how did you do it? did u get a schematic from some where or did u just start cuttin and splicing wires with trial and error? lol j/k .... how did u know what to cut and if it is easy to explain could u tell me where to look and what to cut? Or where to look for information... thanks alot.

Pretty much the same way I did mine as Zach. I tap the power for the fogs from the ignition fuse on the driver's side kick panel. With this configuration, I can turn on the fogs anytime as long as the engine is running.

I cut the original foglight wires and crimped on female connectors (from Ace hardware). Then I got 2 packs of 12-foot wire from Wal-Mart, one red, one black. I wrapped the two wires in electrical tape to save them from the elements, and then I crimped male connectors to the ends of the the wires. I used red as positive, black as ground. I routed the wires and ran them up into the engine bay, and then grounded the black wire to the same ground spot as the battery ground. Then I ran the red wire through the gromet in the firewall. To the foglight switch I tapped into one of the fuses (accessory fuse) and ran one wire to one end of the switch. To the other end I ran the red wire coming from the firewall. Viola! Flip the switch and you have your foglights completely independent of the other lights.
