new member with a bunch of Q's

i have searched..been staking the forum for about 2 weeks now

i have a black 2002 4runner sr5 sport aem intake, dryflow brute force....no oil airfilter(should i put stock back on?).. took the running boards off and thats it so far, but i did order some stubbs rock sliders with a kickout...

anyway i am looking at the ome lift and the sonoran steel kit..why is one better than the other and are these kits everything i need... as in to make the truck reliable and not break anthing? ... i will be going offroading about once or twice a month. but i dont want the ride to become uncomfortable on the road. im looking at the 7.1 kit from sonoran.. its 2 in the front and 2.5 in the back will this sit level? also will i have to do alot of work to get 285's to fit with either of these kits?, please keep in mind im in the military so i dont have too much money so if the sonoran kit isnt much better should i just go with the ome? thanks alot guys i really appreciate any info you will share with

oh yea i also want a black front toyota emblem..should i just sand mine and spray it, or buy a new emblem? anyone know where to buy them?

Look up the tundra front/ ome 890 rear. fits 33 inch tires with ease. inexpensive lift but very proven.

Your on the right track. The Kit your looking at SonoronSteels 7.1 kit is the tundra/ome kit mentioned above. To answer your question, Yes it's a complete kit you will not need anything else. With that kit you will be able to fit 285's with ease. A lot of people also run the toytec 3inch lift kit.

The S.S. kit will come with everything needed/recommended.
The FAQ at the bottom of the page will explain why one is better...so will a couple of old threads here on YT. For the average wheeler, the OME kit is fine.

will this sit level?
Yes. Theres hundreds of pictures to be found.

also will i have to do alot of work to get 285's to fit with either of these kits?
No. Many run 285's with just a suspension lift. If you have rubbing, trim the plastic and pound the fenders some. And if you still have rubbing, consider a 1" body lift in addition to the suspension lift.

yep, just pop it out..sand, paint, and your done.

also, in the future, please make your thread title more specific. It makes it easier for others to search...

The SS kit comes complete and ready to use. It includes shocks, springs and the works. Also, the OME kit doesn't include shocks, you'll have to buy them seperately. There's some decent pricing on OME lift kits and shocks at www.toyteclifts.com. Just stay away from the kits that use front coil spring spacers.

I'm not a fan of coilovers. They're very expensive and used mostly for off road racing applications, not trail driving and rock crawling.

Trust me, the SS 7.1 is a great package. You will also be very pleased with the quality of the ride.

For pics, check out my Profile in my sig.

Oh and check out my write up on it too: Lift Thread

Oh and I gained 2.5" in the front and 3" in the rear.
