New member/4 wheeler
Hey everybody, I'm new to this site and to the 4X4 world. I recently purchased a 95 4Runner w/31x10.5 in. wheels. Besides that I think it's pretty much stock. I am very interested in 4 wheeling, but I don't know too much about it. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things that my truck may need to take it off-roading. I'm looking for mainly basic things that don't cost a ton of money. I'm on a pretty tight budget. Any feedback you guys have would be great. Thanks

I usually just get a full tank of gas last time I tried to wheel on a 1/4 a tank the runner died on a steep hill that sucked. Also check over the vehicle and bring a spotter, a jack perferably Hi-lift, tow rope, and a cell phone. Take it easy and get used to the truck dont try anything too steep. Have fun and wear your seatbelt.

Suggestions:
Don't go out alone (especially while you are a novice)
Have someone spot you to help you avoid dents/scratches, etc.
Equipment that I recommend (I will add more when I think of additional stuff):
Tow strap
1st aid kit
gloves
high lift jack
CB
Cell phone
Additional clothing (warm clothing if it is cold out)
Maybe spare water and food, depending on how far you are going to be from civilization.

welcome, this is by far the best forum on the net, these guys
(and gals) are second to NONE, they are great, very helpful, are willing give any advice they can, ive learned alot from them, have meet a few, just a great bunch of people, so plan on opening that wallet after reading here you will get the "bug"

welcome!!. if you plan on offroading, definatly go with another rig, a tow strap, and be sure to have tow points front and rear. also, dont do anything you have the slightest bad feeling about. one time, i had a bad feeling about something, and i ended up almost flipping my rig down a hill.

Humm....if you don't have a skid plate, then yes you would need one 
But I'm pretty sure you have one, just take a peek underneath and see if there is this long wide piece of metal underneath your motor.

1st thing , like Doink said, just take it slow in the begining. No need to go out and tackle the meanest obstacles... do what your comfortable with. Listen to those with some experience, however don't get pressured into doing things that may make you feel is a bad idea. Just go out and have fun and work your way to the bigger trails. One good thing said was "never go it alone", there's some wisdom there! I had to rescue my Bro in law in Big Bear at 3a.m. once because he was " Macho" Plenty of Mods to consider for you... hang out here long enough and you will learn about Locker's, winches, armour, lights, etc. etc... And welcome aboard
