Hey
My name is Cris and im a new member to this forum. Jason Burtman told me about this site and I came to check it out and it seemed like a really cool 4Runner post site. I have a '98 4runner sr5 that i got for Christmas in my junior year of high school. I am now about 4 days from being a freshman at the University of Kentucky where ill be majoring in business.....hopefully! So far i have these things done with some parts and a lot of help and suggestions from burtmanindustries.com: Front spoiler and Hella fog lights from performance products, clear corner and bumper lights, K&N Filter, burtmanindustries medium burlwood dash kit, chrome westin nerf bars, memphis 400 watt x 4 channel amp for the polk and infinity door speakers, memphis 500 watt mono for 2 memphis 12's bridged in a jl audio sub box with a line driver running off of a sony xplod headunit(say what u like it has been good to me so far!!), flowmaster exhaust 40 series, euro tails by burtmanindustries again(i got those as soon as i found out they were making them!), then 31x10.50 bfg all-terrains on 16 inch american racing baja rims. I hope to be of any help to anyone with questions i might know the answer to!

Welcome aboard Cris,

Hey what is the negative press on the Sony Xplod head units? I have been thinking about getting one for my truck (maybe a M650 or a M850). Which one do you have?

Welcome to the forums Cris.

PA, nothing wrong at all with the Sony M650.
See my website and audio section for details.
I have not had any problems with it at all, and no skipping while off road.
It's great, but outdated by now.
The M850 looks to be good, and plays raw MP3s, and I think I will be getting that next.

Corey,

Your webpage is awesome! I have burned a lot of time checking it out. Actually, I have been considering the Sony M650 from your previous good recommendations. I was just wondering why Cris made the comment "say what u like it has been good to me so far!!" Seemed to me that somebody out there must be bashing the Xplod units. Maybe I just took his comment the wrong way. Do you know if the M850 "bathes the cockpit" in the same blue light as the M650?

Thanks PA for the comps on my site, it's been a very long process putting it together.
It's up to about 300 mb or so right now.

The only one I know bashing Sony units is some dude over on 4x4wire.
He doesn't even have any first hand experience with Sony audio, he's only going by their home stuff, but he loves to rank down Sony car audio stuff.
I'm sure a few on the forum here know who I'm talking about

I was all set to get the Sony MP70, but have read that it doesn't have 4v pre amp outs, only 2v
The newer MP80 has 4v outputs, but I don't like not having push buttons for the presets.

The M850 seems to have the features of my deck which I like and 4v outputs like mine, but does the RAW MP3 thing.
This will be the deck I get when I get around to it.

It looks to be a great deck.
A guy to check with who is up on this stuff is member Reapur.
