Unhappy new intake causes engine not to run

I just put a K&N intake (filtercharge kit) with the new tubing and everything one yesterday, we hooked it up correctly and the truck wouldn't start. The battery was old and needed new so i put that it, and it turns over, but there isn't spark. What could have caused this?

could it be a problem with your maf?

I remember when I did my deckplate mod, I disconnected my maf and just for fun I tried to start it, and it would turn over and just quit and die. So I'm thinking maybe something wrong with the sensors. Did you pull the efi fuse?

check the obvious....

IIRC there is an ignition module on the passenger fender that 'talks' to the coil packs....maybe it got unplugged or bumped loose.

Also, check and make sure that there isn't any packing material in the tube or inside the filter. sometimes you just never know what might be hidded inside something.

its a 91 pickup w/ 3.0. 4x4, and i did pull out the plug going into the airflow sensor, but i put it right back in. Would that make it not even start?

It sounds like an "over oiled" condition, where the K&N oil gets into the AFM and gives you the stalling. I had something similar in the 2000 Maxima I had - I was a little overzealous with the oil. It was stalling and when it did run, if I put my foot in it, it stumbled. See if there is alot of oil on the engine side of the K&N.

OR

You may have caused the flexible pipe to split or not be tight enough. If there is any break between the AFM and the TB, you'll have the stalling prob also. Just a couple of thoughts...

OR

When pulling the harness off the connector, you damaged the wires. I hope you tugged on the connector, not the wires...

well it won't even turn over. It won't even spit or sputter, i took the wire off coming from the coil to the cap and roater, adn there is just one spark right when you turn the key. But it hasn't even turned over since i put the intake on. So if there was a problem with the air sensor it would at least turn over, wouldn't it?

Are we talking an entire K&N Performance Kit, or just a filter. If an entire Kit, i'm sure something got disconnected during installation and it's just a matter of backtracking to see what may be wrong. The coil/distributor are right where you were working, so i'd definitely give them a lot of consideration. The oil thing is also a possible culprit.
Good Luck, hope you get it runnin' soon.

It is the whole intake system, and i have checked every fuse, every connection, but there still is no spark from the coil. I have about 1ohm coming through the coil. Is that normal rating? I just can think of what would be restricting it from starting. If the air sensor was hooked up wrong wouldn't it still start but then quit? It won't even turn over, or chug. I just don't get it.

So you are saying the engine won't even crank over now?
You tried a new battery, how about a jump start?
