Smile New Here - Just bought an '85

Hey everyone, I just bought an '85 runner - bare bones stock fixer upper. She belonged to a marina and was the yard truck (light body rust)- Only 62000 original miles. I absolutley love this truck. Got it about 2 weeks ago, did a basic tune-up and she's purring like a kitten. Still need to do front brakes and give it a good cleaning though. Anyways, I've been lurking on this site since I bought it and spend literally hours doing searches - great information on here. Just wanted to say HI

Hello and welcome to the board. Sounds like you got quite a find there. Best of luck with it and hold on to your wallet.

I paid $1400 for it - I think I got a pretty good deal . I took it to the MD Inspection to see what needs to be done - here is the laundry list to pass MD inspection:

Passed emissions in Aug 04
Front Brakes (calipers froze) - Replacing this weekend
Horn doesn't work
Parking brake light doesn't work
Drivers seat doesn't slide (fixed already, p/o thru bolted in one position)
Passenger mirror frozen (whatever that means - it moves now)
PS Highbeam out
Wires hanging (po replaced starter and left some "old wires" hanging??????)

problems i've found

Clean, scrub - I've already removed all of the rubber/carpet (found hole in ps floor pan)
Temp guage doesn't work - fix or replace
DS hub leaks
Coolant is nasty
A/C doesn't work...yet

Future Mods:
I just wanna get her on the road and inspected for now, but than I may replace the stock (ugly) white steel rims (already has new stock size tires)
Paint inside and outside
Rig it up for surf fishing (beach buggy)

**PS, This is a very basic truck - but has PS/Tilt wheel and A/C - go figure

Yea the parking brake indicator on the dash doesnt's work - I'll look in the dash to see if it's disconnected.

Anybody know what the two wire harness (connectors) are under the center console? the wires for the seat belt are plugged in, but there are two of about 3 to 5 wires just laying there??
