hey everyone, i am a bewbe to the site and was wondering if anyone can help me with some auto tranny problems in my 89 4 runner? it skips second if i start out in drive, drive it in 2nd and it works great plus if the heater fan is on high it wont shift at all, what makes these things shift. plus my overdrive has only worked once in the year and a half i have had it.

I don't have a clue about auto trannies, but I do have a question for ya: How can you be a "desert rat" in Coos Bay Oregon??? That's about as non-desert as it gets!
Come down here to Yuma, it was 113 a few minutes ago. Burned, literally felt like the skin was burning when I went outside. I'll trade ya! I have 2.6 acres, a couple of mobiles...not great, but it's all paid for and everything...I'll trade ya straight across for WHATEVER you have up there! I HATE THIS PLACE!!!!

It could be the valve body? In automatic transmissions the shift's (shift points) are controlled by pressure. A valve or two in mine were stuck shut and nuked my stock one. I'm not exactly sure because I didn't have the issue with the heater fan but thats my .02

not sure what tranny it is, and as for the name i picked it up years ago living on the other end of the state, olot of good desert runnin there.
