New Gears!

WooHoo!
I just had new 4.88 Yukons installed in my '84 truck...sweet! With the 33" tires, the gearing is just about perfect. I can use 5th on the freeway now!
Some notes to share:
On the freeway, speedo seems to under-read speed by about 5 MPH. When speedo says I'm doing 65, I'm doing closer to 70 (assuming my wife's Honda speedo is accurate).
In 5th gear:
Tach says 2600...speedo says 60
Tach says 2900...speedo says 65
Tach says 3300...speedo says 75
In 4th gear:
Tach says 2500...speedo says 48

Smile Yep...

Same truck, Todd. No, I haven't posted any pics of it yet. I'll probably need a little help from Corey.
I had a few things on the list I wanted to get done, one of them was 4.88 gears. I really like the 33" tires, so there wasn't much choice. Only thing to decide was how low to go. From what I've read and people I've talked to, 4.88's kept coming up as a good all-around ratio. Based on my limited time running them, they do seem pretty darn sweet. I'll reserve final judgement until after I've made a Greenwater run or two.
Gears alone were 700 bones (top of line Yukon's). 350 more bones for install. Jobs of this type are way over my head, so I hired it out. Went with someone Rob (WATRD) recommended. Seems to have done an excellent job.
Next up is OME springs, and a CB. Maybe an adjustable drag link. Oh...think I need new BFG MT's, even though the current BFG AT's are still excellent. You know..
Let's hook up soon, Todd, for a Greenwater run. It would be fun if Corey came along. KevyWevy would also be welcome!
