New Fluids and Skid Plate Install

Just switched over to full synthetic last night at 52,500.

I am using a RedLine 75/90 product in the diffs, transfer, and manual transmission.

Anybody else out there using this brand, I know most of you are on amsoil.

I already notice an ease in shifting and can tell my car is happy with the new fluid. I have read mixed reviews on switching over 50K, but I think my syncs are nice and broken in and I will keep a watch for leaks. Also switched out to Mobil 1 in the engine. Now that it is getting cold, I am hoping to avoid any excessive engine wear due to the cold starts.

Well while I was at my buddies garage, I painted and attached the skid plate made by Mike(Xtreme), AZRain, and Schaefer. I have had the thing for 3-4 weeks, but new it would come off to do the oil, so I just waited.

Anyway, Had to grind off about a half inch in the front to get it to clear the shackle hangers that steve had made for me last summer. Also the bump stops confused me for a moment until I realized the were for the middle points and not the ends. The skid is super strong, reinforced from behind with 90 degree angle iron. Painted it Red to match the saws and hangers.

Next stop, CO springs for that Rockware Rear Tire Swing.

See you all in the spring.
Dave

MY EYES!

Looks like you ran over Santa Claus! J/K, man that thing is red!

It does look nice and sturdy though. I just personally hate red, but it ain't my rig. Anyway, how about a farther away shot so we can see it with the rest of the rig for a comparison?

I've heard of Redline. It's quite often used in race cars I think. Quality stuff.

I had to cut the front drivers corner of that same skid to accommodate the second factory tow hook I installed. I use it as a slider of sorts. I also had to drill out the rear mounting holes in the skid to make the holes into an oval shape so I could mount it. It's still a pain to install after an oil change. Especially since it's bent up a bit from wheeling. And yes, I have Schaefer the stops installed. Wouldn't want to go without them.

DSP,

Though an Amsoil independent dealer, I've heard good things about Redline, especially their MT fluid. If there's anything I dont like about my MT is the shifting, even after using Amsoil. Where did you get your MT fluid? And is it the MT-90?

best thing about paint..when you don't like it anymore, it becomes whatever color you want...

Well, most of you will laugh, but I had a local 4x4 shop do it for me. They changed all the fluids for me. I guess that means I bought it locally here in colorado

Redline makes very good stuff;I ran it in my Eclipse's tranny, transfer case and the rear diff through 8 seasons of drag racing and the tranny shifted great. I did have the tranny tore down once (before season 6) in those 8 seasons and my mechanic noted that there was very little wear on anything and recommended to keep using the stuff.

I'll be switching my Runner over before this summer.

Redline Products = Da Bomb!

I used them for years in my Supra with great results. Everything they ever claimed about their products held up in actual use from my experience. Great stuff. I am currently only using the Water Wetter in my cooling system. But I also use the SI-1 injector cleaner when needed. I may switch over to Redline fluids in everything, at some point. But for now I am using Mobil 1 0W30 in the crankcase and Royal Purple in the gear boxes.

My local parts store Baxter Auto Parts carries the complete line of Redline Products. They also carry Royal Purple and Mobil 1.
